Not sure about you, but every year I find myself thinking, “I really need to spend more time in nature this year!” Funny thing is, I never regret a long hike or a peaceful day by the river. But in a world that feels increasingly disconnected from nature, it can be a challenge to make it happen.
As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to set intentions that nurture your mind, body, and spirit. Spending time outdoors plays a powerful role in achieving these goals. Studies show that time in nature offers countless physical and mental health benefits, including improved sleep, reduced stress, and a stronger sense of well-being.
One practice to consider is forest bathing, or "shinrin-yoku." This simply means soaking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest—a mindful connection to nature. Research links forest bathing to reduced stress hormones, lower blood pressure, and even improved immune function.
Meditation and yoga are also wonderful ways to enhance these benefits. Practicing these activities surrounded by nature can help you sleep better, feel more relaxed, and bring a sense of calm to your daily life.
